The Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s monitoring machanisms have been lifted from R. Ungoofaaru and Kulhudhuffushi City in HDh. atoll.
Monitoring mechanisms were activated on both islands last month after positive cases of COVID-19 were identified from the islands. The measures imposed on Kulhudhuffushi city were lifted last Sunday while the restrictions on Ungoofaaru were lifted on Saturday.
People from nearby islands who relied on the health centres in Ungoofaaru and Kulhudhuffushi for their medical treatments suffered challenges due to the restrictions on entry and exit from both islands. Over 400 patients from other islands sought services at the islands’ health centres daily.
Normal services have now resumed at health centres and hospitals in both islands. Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital began OPD services on Monday while Kulhudhuffushi had already resumed services as normal by then.
