The Canadian government has donated USD one million to the Maldives to support health care waste management.
The donation was handed over during a virtual ceremony held Tuesday to kick off the 'Disinfection of Medical Waste' project. The project is being carried out as a collaboration between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Canadian government.
Under the 'Disinfections of Medical Waste' project, the medical waste management processes of health centers in the atolls will be enhanced. Medical waste management services will be established in 10 atolls under the project.
