Former First Lady of the Maldives and wife of former president Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, Nasreena Ibrahim has tested positive for COVID-19.
The former first family has confirmed the diagnosis to AVAS. According to the family, Madam Nasreena was tested for the virus after other residents living in the same household tested positive for the virus. However, President Maumoon, who previously tested positive for the virus in August 2020, tested negative.
President Maumoon and Madam Nasreena have both completed the two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. The family said Madam Nasreena remains at home and is doing well.
