Former President of the Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has tested positive for COVID-19.
Gayyoom announced that he had tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. It has been reported that he consulted at a hospital due to symptoms of a cold, and was tested for the virus. The results, which were recieved on Monday night, showed that he was positive for COVID-19.
Gayyoom was the president of the Maldives for six terms through 1979 to 2008.
