Former president of the Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has been discharged from the hospital after recovering from COVID-19.
Gayyoom, 82, was admitted to the DH11 facility in state-run Dharumavantha Hospital in the capital on August 26. While over two weeks have passed since his hospitalisation, the former president in a tweet posted on Monday announced that he had made a full recovery and that he had returned home.
Gayyoom was the president of the Maldives for six terms through 1979 to 2008.
