A PCR testing lab will be established at Dr. AbdulSamad Memorial Hospital in GDh. Thinadhoo.
The hospital's Manager, Ahmed Saeed told AVAS that the PCR machine that will be installed at the hospital's lab will be similar to the machine installed in Addu City and Kulhudhuffushi City. The machine can test up to 300 samples per day, and the lab can be set up within 20 days, said Saeed.
"Currently, we test for COVID-19 using a Gene-expert machine. It is not easy to obtain cartridges for the machine," Saeed said.
Thinadhoo has active cases of COVID-19 and is currently under the Health Protection Agency (HPA)'s monitoring status. 30 positive cases were reported from the island over the past 24 hours.
