The Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has announced some eases to the current mobility restrictions enforced in Male' City.
Authorities imposed a strict curfew in the Greater Male' Region from 04:00 pm until 08:00 am, and a special permit was required to be outside during non-curfew hours after an alarming surge in COVID-19 infections. However, the curfew hours were shortened after three weeks on June 15 after the daily number of cases began to decline. Since then, the curfew has been in effect from 04:00 pm until 04:00 am, and individual exercisers were allowed to exercise outside between 04:00 am and 08:00 am without requiring a police permit. Mosques were also opened to the public for individual worship.
HEOC on Tuesday annoucned that the curfew rules will be further scaled back to be in effect from 06:00 pm to 04:00 am from Wednesday onwards. Permission has also been granted for gyms to reopen and the takeaway service hours for cafes and restaurants have also been extended until 6:00 pm. Eases in travel to islands have also been granted.
