'Pres Yameen would not work with any other political parties'

The opposing Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) has stated that the party's leader and former President of the Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom has no intention of registering a new political party.

A statement issued by PPM said Yameen's political work will be carried out through PPM and Peoples' National Congress (PNC). He would not join forces with any other political parties or individuals for his political work, it said. It further warned members of PPM and PNC to be wary of any activity that may use President Yameen's name for political gain.

PPM's statement comes amid rumors that several political leaders are working together to create a new political party.
