Eases granted in Addu City with improvement in COVID-19 situation

Several restrictions imposed in southernmost Addu City have been lifted following improvement in the city's COVID-19 situation.

Addu Emergency Operation Centre said cafes and restaurants in Addu City can now offer dine-in services between 08:00 am and 06:00 pm. Mosques are also allowed to hold congregational prayers with social distancing measures in place. Sports avenues, gyms, and saloons have also been allowed to reopen between 08:00 am and 06:00 pm. Vehicle restrictions have also been lifted.

Although several eases were granted in Addu City last week, they were not applicable in Hithadhoo island. However, the new eases are applicable in Hithadhoo as well.

The latest statistics by Addu Emergency Operation Centre show the atoll has recorded 501 COVId-19 cases to date. While only 52 cases are active at this time, three are hospitalized.
