Maldives has been listed in TIME Magazine's World's 100 Greatest Places List.
The Maldives was listed at the 53rd spot in 2021's list. The destination profile highlighted high-end luxury resort Velaa Private Island in Noonu atoll as well as newly opened Fari Islands, Patina Maldives and Ritz-Carlton Maldives as notable tourist destinations.
TIME Magazine further noted that the Maldives was the first country to offer quarantine-free stays for anyone who is vaccinated. It also mentioned Maldives' plans to offer vaccines to tourists on arrival once all residents have had the opportunity to receive the vaccine, under efforts to draw even more visitors to the archipelago.
TIME Magazine said the challenges of the past year and a half have transformed the world, and few industries such as travel, tourism and hospitality have been affected significantly. Its third annual list of the World's Greatest Places is a tribute to the people and businesses at the forefront of those industries who, amid extraordinary circumstances, found ways to adapt, build and innovate, the magazine said.
