The death of a three-month-old infant who passed away at Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital in GDh. Thinadhoo has been declared as a non-COVID-19 death.
The three-month-old who was admitted at Thinadhoo COVID Facility passed away on Monday morning. While the death was first reported as a COVID-19 death, Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital has now declared the death as a non-COVID-19 death. The hospital said the infant was due to be released from the COVID-19 facility on Monday, and had not exhibited any symptoms of COVID-19 over the past three days. Therefore, the death has been deemed as a non-COVID-19 death, although the hospital does not test patients at COVID facilities once they pass away.
When asked if the cause of death has been identified, the hospital said they are investigating the matter.
