MACL to introduce e-check-in services

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) will introduce e-check-in services and increase the number of check-in counters at Velana International Airport, the company's CEO has said.

Speaking at a ceremony held to mark the arrival of the millionth tourist to the Maldives this year, CEO of MACL, Gordon Andrew Stewart, said the Maldives' achievement despite challenges faced by the aviation and tourism sector must be celebrated.

Noting that the number of tourists visiting the Maldives keeps increasing, the influx of tourists increases the demand on the airport, said Stewart. The airport's demand has risen to pre-COVID-19 levels, which is a success worth noting, he added. He further said MACL is undertaking a lot of efforts to improve the main international airport's services, including plans to introduce e-check-in services in mid-2022 and increase the number of check-in counters.
