A monument will be built in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi in memory of November 3 hero, Matyr Hussain Adam.

Speaking at a ceremony held to mark the Victory Day, celebrated on November 3, Kulhudhuffushi City Mayor Mohamed Athif said a monument to celebrate heroes such as Hussain Adam, who was originally from Kulhudhuffuhi, is of utmost importance. The mayor said Kulhudhuffushi must take the lead on creating memorials dedicated to its heroes, as the people of Kulhudhuffushi are most proud of the actions of its blood.

The mayor further called on the country's citizens to derive lessons from Hussain Adam's fearless v courage and sacrifice for the nation, and be loyal to the country and religion.

Corporal Hussain Adam was a Maldivian soldier who died while defending the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) headquarters during the 1988 Maldives coup d'état on 3 November 1988. Corporal Hussain Adam was posted at a security post responsible for the security of the main gate of MNDF Headquarters. When the insurgents approached to take over the building, he immediately responded with a burst of bullets instead of taking cover inside the HQ. His response gave time for soldiers inside to prepare a counter attack. He was 19 years old at that time.
