The Maldives will be joining the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub (CCFAH) in the coming months.
The decision to join CFAH was announced by State Minister at the Environment Ministry, Khadeeja Naseem, in a tweet posted via the Commonwealth's official Twitter handle. Khadeeja said as the Maldives is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change, it is important for the archipelago to become a CCFAH member. She further said the Maldives urgently need climate financing and believes financing will be more accessible through joining CCFAH.
The CCFAH helps countries untangle the red tape around climate financing and make successful applications to the international funds that address climate change. The CCFAH was established in 2016 and has helped six countries secure USD 43.8 million for climate change-related projects since then.
