Russian tourist arrival number crosses 200,000

Te number of Russian tourists who have visited the Maldives since border re-opening has crossed 200,000.

Official statistics released by the Tourism Ministry show Russia is the second top source market to the Maldives at this time. Up until November 24, 202,277 Russian tourists had traveled to the Maldives, which is equivalent to 18 percent of total tourist arrivals for the period.

India has remained at the top with 252,551 arrivals since January 1 this year. This accounts for 22 percent of total tourist arrivals for the period. The third-most number of tourists visited from Germany, with 81,223 arrivals - seven percent of total arrivals.

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has held several campaigns in Russia to promote the Maldives. The recent arrival numbers show the events have been successful at attracting visitors to the Maldives.
