Air Asia has commenced direct flights between Thailand and the Maldives.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) warmly welcomed the airline's first flight, which arrived at Velana International Airport from Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday morning.
Two weekly flights will operate between Thailand's Don Muang Airport and VIA on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Air Asia is a popular airline among travelers staying at medium-class resorts and guest houses. The introduction of the flights would see a boom in the guest house tourism sector.
