Statistics have shown that the most number of tourists visited the Maldives this year on December 26.
According to the Tourism Ministry, 7,098 arrivals were recorded on Sunday, crossing 7,000 for the first time this year. The second-most number of arrivals was recorded on December 5, on which 6,269 arrivals were recorded. Earlier on October 16, 6,197 arrivals were recorded.
Overall, the most number of arrivals were recorded in November, with 144,725 arrivals during the month.
While the Maldives has welcomed 1.2 million tourists, achieving its target for the year. The Tourism Ministry has said the arrival number is expected to cross 1.3 million before the end of the year.
This year, the most number of tourists visit the Maldives from India, possessing 22.5 percent of arrivals.
