Over 69 sq m searched for man missing at sea

An area of almost 70 square meters has been searched for Shuraih Hassan, who is missing at sea.

Shuraih went octopus hunting with two friends near K. Gulheefalhu on Saturday morning. The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) received reports that he was missing at approximately 8:58 am on the same morning. MNDF said Shuraih, 22, was swept out to the western side of the Vaadhoo sea. He was wearing a grey t-shirt and black shorts at the time of the incident.

MNDF said a harbor craft launch and a Fast Interceptor Craft had been utilized in their search for Shuraih. Under their efforts, the western side of Bolifushi, Gulhifalhu, and Billingili have been searched in addition to 69.3 square nautical miles off the northern end of Giraavaru.
