Two out of three crewmen of the 'Alamaa-5' vessel have been located and rescued.
The 60-foot vessel, traveling from near F. Feeali to capital Male' capsized late Monday. MNDF received reports of the incident around 11:22 pm that night. Three men were aboard the vessel: Adam Shafeeq (32) from K. Guraidhoo, Asadul Islam (37), and an additional Bangladeshi national.
MNDF said the two Bangladeshi men had been located. The two men grabbed some tanks from the capsized vessel on which they floated. The tanks drifted off to an area where cell phone reception was available, and authorities were able to establish contact with them. They were found a few miles off ADh. Dhangeth around 6:50 am on Wednesday.
Adam Shafeeq still remains missing, and MNDF has expanded its search for the man. The search is being carried out both by air and by sea. Coast Guard ship Huravee, Sea Ambulance-34, ten seaplanes from Trans Maldivian Airways and a FlyMe aircraft, and the police and the vessel's owners are active in the search.
