Over 50,000 tourists have visited the Maldives during the first two weeks of 2022.
Official statistics released by the President's Office show 55,055 tourists visited the Maldives between January 1 and 12. Although the official data for the first half of January has not been released yet, based on current trends, it is expected that the arrival numbers would have crossed 58,000 by now.
The average daily arrival number for the current period is 4,588., and the average stay is nine days long.
As per the most recent statistics, the top source market from which tourists arrive is Russia. Over 11,000 tourists have visited from Russia since the beginning of 2022.
Over 1.3 million tourists visited the Maldives last year, and 555,494 tourists in the year before that. In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, 1.7 million tourists visited the Maldives.
