Two councils to lease islands under their jurisdiction

ADh. Atoll Council and GDh. Rathafandhoo Council will be leasing islands under their jurisdiction.

ADh. Atoll Council will be leasing Hurasdhoo island and Lonubui island of the same atoll, while Rathafandhoo Island Council will be leasing five uninhabited islands that fall in their jurisdiction: Faahushi, Meyragillaa, Dhonigillaa, Dherukurehaa, and Kurehdhuvaa island.

Hurasdhoo Island was designated as a protected island by the government sixteen years ago. ADh. Council will be leasing both Hurasdhoo and Lonubui island for a period of twenty years. The Council will be providing a permit to the lessees to carry out profitable activities on the islands. The lessee must also allow the public to go to the islands on picnics and keep the island clean.

Rathafandhoo Island will be leasing each island to different lessees for a period of one year. The lessees may use the islands for profitable purposes and must allow the public to use the island for picnic-going.

Interested parties are instructed to submit their proposals by January 31.
