Maldives Customs Service has seized over one kilogram of drugs hidden in an air shipment which arrived in the Maldives.
Customs said the items were seized during a further search of a general goods shipment that arrived in the Maldives from Thailand early Sunday night. The drugs were hidden within twenty packets in the shipment.
Customs said the items tested positive for cannabis during initial testing. The total weight of the items, including the packaging, was 1,097 grams, with a street value of approximately MVR 877,600.00, according to customs.
The seized drugs have now been handed over to police for further investigation.
