Development of two regional ports handed over to MTCC

The development of HDh. Kulhdhuffushi Regional Port and GDh. Thinadhoo Regional Port has been handed over to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

A ceremony was held at MTCC's head office in Male' to sign the agreements. The agreement was signed on behalf of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) by the company's CEO Shahid Ali and Chief Engineer Adam Mohamed. The document was signed on behalf of MTCC by the company's CEO Adam Azim and COO Shahid Hussain Moosa.

Under the redevelopment of Kulhudhuffushi Regional Port, MTCC will dredge the lagoon, build a new jetty, and install revetment and navigation lights. An administrative building and a workshop building will also be built. An Environmental Impact Assessment will be conducted by MTCC. The project must be completed within 496 days, and the value of the project is MVR 138,980,244.28.

The second phase of the development of Thinadhoo Regional Port consists of building a port administrative building, a guardhouse, a warehouse, a workshop building, and installation of navigational lights and a porch. The project must be completed in 330 days. The project value is MVR 17,864,369,16.
