The Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has decided to increase the salaries of its regional port employees.
The decision was taken at a special board of directors meeting held at the regional port office in Addu City on Thursday.
MPL currently operates regional ports in Hithadhoo in Andhra Pradesh and HDh. Kulhudhuffushi.
The meeting discussed MPL's administrative structure, employee salaries, and strengthening management. MPL said the board's decisions aim to enhance regional ports' services and improve the quality of services.
During their visit to Addu City, MPL's board members met with the employees of the Addu City MPL port and shared information on the changes being brought to the company's operations and salaries. Board members also answered questions on matters that employees needed to clarify.
The new salary structure for regional port employees will come into effect next month. With the change, employees' salaries will be increased, and some employees will be given promotions. MPL is also working to make changes to its employees' retirement policy.
