Maldives Police Service is investigating a serious case of domestic violence.
The police said they received reports of a domestic violence case in capital Male' on Wednesday morning, where an expatriate attacked his wife in their residential home. They said the victim is receiving treatment at state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for her injuries.
Video footage of the victim being taken to the hospital is circulating on social media. The video shows the woman wearing blood-soaked clothes. She could be heard crying hysterically as she was being taken to the hospital.
