The Tourism Ministry has said the tourist arrival number for this year had crossed 250,000.
The weekly statistics released by the ministry show 251,339 tourists visited the Maldives from the beginning of the year until February 23. The daily arrivals average is at 5,199 for this February.
The numbers show the most tourists arrived from Russia, with 39.660 arrivals. The UK followed behind with 28,569 arrivals. The third most tourists arrived from India, with 22,139 arrivals recorded from the country.
The Maldives hosted 1.3 million tourists last year and 555,494 tourists in the year before that.
