The Gender Ministry has said it received 105 cases of violence against children in January this year.
The monthly statistics issued by the ministry show the ministry attended to 105 cases of violence against children in January. This includes 21 cases of witness to domestic violence, 20 cases of sexual abuse, 14 cases of physical abuse, and 10 cases of emotional abuse. A further 22 cases of commercial exploitation of children and six cases of exploitation were also received and attended by the ministry. Three cases of children being victims of harassment were also reviewed.
The ministry said 56 cases of gender-based violence and domestic violence were attended, including 24 physical violence or abuse cases.
According to the statistics, the ministry attended to 11 cases of self-harm and 18 cases related to the care and support of the elderly and persons with disabilities.
