Land Use Plan submitted to ministry four months ago: City Council

Male' City Council has said the Land Use Plan for the city had been submitted to the Planning Ministry.

The City Council had announced that 13 land plots in Villimale's industrial zone would be leased to interested parties. Following the announcement, the Planning Ministry sent a letter stating that the Council must follow the Decentralization Act and submit a Land Use Plan to the Ministry for approval before leasing out the land from the Villimale industrial zone.

On Monday, the City Council said the Land Use Plan was submitted to the Planning Ministry for approval by the deadline set by the Ministry, which was November 30, 2021. The Council said that while months have passed since then, the Ministry has not approved the plan to date.

The Council will deliberate on the Ministry's letter in the council meeting scheduled for next Wednesday.
