Official statistics have shown that over 400,000 tourists have visited the Maldives thus far this year.
The Tourism Ministry said 427,677 tourists had visited the Maldives this year by 31 March. According to the latest figures, the daily tourist arrival number is at 4,776, which is a significant increase compared to the same period last year.
The average daily tourist arrival number in January was 4,250. However, it increased to 5,322 in February. While the average stay was nine days in January and 8.6 days in February, the Ministry's statistics show the current average is 8.8 days.
The most tourist arrivals thus far this year were from Russia. OVer 50,000 tourists visited from Russia, which is approximately 14.8 percent of arrivals.
