The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has taken disciplinary action against the Chief Judge of the Civil Court, Abdulla Ali.
According to JSC, action was taken against the Judge after finding that his conduct undermined the trust in the justice system.
In this regard, an individual received a notice to present himself at the Civil Court, while at the same time, he had received a notice to attend a magistrate court. Although the individual requested the Civil Court to reschedule the hearing, JSC said the Judge dismissed the case.
The JSC said the Judge's actions undermined the judicial system's power and esteem and that he was prejudiced in executing his responsibilities as a judge. His actions also raise questions on his fairness, JSC said.
Therefore, JSC has mandated the judge to undergo a training program while also advising him on the matter.
