Two people have been arrested in connection to the large amount of drugs seized from a passenger arriving in the Maldives.
On May 3, Maldives Customs Service seized drugs worth over MVR 21 million from a passenger that arrived in the Maldives. Customs said the man's luggage was checked at Velana International Airport after being flagged for suspicious behavior. Upon searching, 4.226 kilograms of cocaine were found in his luggage.
Maldives Police Service on Monday said a local man and a foreigner had been arrested in connection to the drug bust. The Criminal Court has remanded the pair in custody for 15 days.
