The by-elections for the Women's Development Committees (WDC) of five islands will be held in June.
The Election Commission said the by-elections for the Ha. Vashafaru, Sh. Lhaimagu, Sh. Komandoo, K. Thulusdhoo, and Aa. Thoddoo WDC by-elections have been scheduled for June 2.
By-elections are being held in all five islands due to the resignation of a WDC member in each island.
As by-elections require a huge expenditure from the state budget every year, the Election Commission has asked the elected members to complete their terms.
