Voting is now underway for the Women's Development Committee (WDC) by-elections across eight islands.
The by-elections are being held for the following islands: HDh. Finey, R. Angolhitheemu, K. Dhiffushi, Aa. Feridhoo, M. Veyvah, Th. Gaadhiffushi, K. Maamendhoo, and GDh. Hoandedhdhoo.
Two polling stations have been set up in Dharubaaruge, Male’ City for eligible voters that are currently in Male’.
Breakdown of number of vote boxes and eligible voters
HDh. Finey -1 ballot box - 294 voters
R. Angolhitheemu- 1 ballot box - 280 voters
K. Dhiffushi -1 ballot box - 784 voters
Aa. Feridhoo -1 ballot box - 393 voters
M. Veyvah - 1 ballot box - 173 voters
Th. Gaadhiffushi - 1 ballot box - 214 voters
K. Maamendhoo - 1 ballot box - 733 voters
GDh. Hoandedhdhoo - 1 ballot box - 655 voters
Atoll-Male ballot box 1 - 667 voters
Atoll-Male ballot box 2 - 792 voters
Voting will take place from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm today.
According to the Election Commission, a total of 4,985 ballot papers were printed for the by-elections.
