Weather expected to improve from Friday

The weather is expected to start clearing starting Friday, the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has said.

Heavy rain has been falling in the Maldives with strong winds for the past two weeks. The MET Office issued multiple travel advisories and alerts during this period, urging travelers to be vigilant. Although the heavy rainfall caused flooding in Male' City and some other islands, no major incidents occurred during this rainy season.

The Met Office Thursday said the continuous rainfall experienced across the Maldives since May 8th will lighten, and the weather will start to improve from Friday.

The Met Office said thundershowers would continue in parts of the north and central parts of the country on Thursday. Winds will be between 13 and 23 mp, and gusts of up to 45 mph are expected during thunderstorms.
