Travel bans have been imposed on lawyer Nazim Abdul Sattar, former Nolhivaram MP Mohamed Nasheed (Colonel Nasheed), and Bangladeshi national MD Alamgiri amid an investigation into leaked videos.
Last month, a video of a man believed to be Nazim engaging in sexual acts with MD Alamgiri was leaked on social media. Later, photos and videos of a man believed to be Colonel Nasheed entering the same room in which the first video was shot were also leaked. However, both Nazim and Nasheed deny they are the people seen in the videos.
The police on Wednesday confirmed that all three men had been banned from leaving the country as the investigation into the videos is ongoing. The police said the travel ban was imposed under a court order but did not give further details.
The police earlier said some people behind the video leak had been identified. They also said several blackmail cases had also been reported in connection to the videos.
