A Moroccon honorary consulate has officially opened in the Maldives.

On Tuesday, the Moroccon flag was hoisted at the Honorary Consulate opened at the ADK Tower, Ameer Ahmed Magu, by Foreign Secretary Ahmed Latheef and Moroccan Ambassador to the Maldives Mohamed Maliki. The ceremony was attended by the Honorary Consul of Morocco to the Maldives, Ahmed Nashid (ADK Nashid).

Morocco, an increasingly popular destination for Maldivians, is located on the African continent. The country offers 90-day on-arrival visas to Maldivians.

The Maldives and Morocco established political relations on February 4, 1988.
