Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a weather warning for the next three days.
The Met Office Saturday said that the Hulhangu monsoon has intensified in the Maldives region. Therefore, rain and thundershowers are expected in most parts of the country over the next three days.
The weather is expected to hit the central and northern atolls the hardest. The Met Office said that strong winds and extremely rough seas, and tidal surges are expected in these atolls.
Therefore, the Met Office has advised seafarers to be vigilant when traveling. The office said it is important to take precautions to avoid danger and minimize the damage caused by heavy rains.
The Met Office has issued a white alert for the entire country. The weather warning was issued from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm today. The office said heavy rains and winds of between 19 and 24 mph are expected. Winds will be 45 mph during rainstorms, and seas will be rough.
