RTL minibuses transported to islands

MTCC as transported mini buses needed to begin bus services under Raajje Transport Link (RTL) to the islands.

MTCC brought 36 minibus to the Maldives on July 16 to begin bus services in Male' and some islands. MTCC has said five additional mini buses will be added to the fleet.

The minibus service will be operated on two routes in Male' City, but MTCC has not yet announced the details of the routes and the fares. In addition to Male', minibus service will be available in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, L. Gan, L. Fonadhoo, and L Isdhoo Kalaidhoo.

MTCC said five minibusses would be used on L. atoll's main highway and two buses in Isdhoo-Kalaidhoo. These buses were transported to Laamu atoll on Wednesday. Five mini buses to Fuvahmulah City on Thursday, while the minibusses for Addu City were delivered on Friday.

MTCC said the new minibusses would have a capacity of 18 to 20 passengers. Twelve minibusses will be used to provide services in Male' City.

MTCC's Rajje Transport Link (RTL) services include RTL ferry services and RTL bus services. While RTL ferry services have been implemented in Haa Alif and Haa Dhaalu atoll, the service will be introduced to Shaviyani Atoll on Monday.

MTCC's CEO Adam Azim had earlier told AVAS that the company is working on launching minibus services in Male' City around the 31st of this month.

The launch of minibus services in the city is one of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's presidential pledges to be fulfilled within 100 days of taking office.
