Bus fare to be charged for Villimale' route from Friday

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) will begin charging for RTL bus services in Villimale' from Friday.

MTCC began providing bus services in Villimale' using environmentally friendly electronic vehicle (EV) buses service on January 20. The service was free of charge for the first two weeks. However, from tomorrow onwards, the bus will charge MVR 5 for a ride. However, children under the age of three, students in school uniform, those with disabilities, and those over the age of 65 can travel for free.

There are three payment options available for the bus service. QR tickets can be purchased from the RTL mobile app or website, and payments can be made on the bus using contactless MasterCard and Visa debit cards or credit cards. Paper tickets can also be bought with cash, although no change will be provided.

The EV bus used by MTCC to provide services in Villimale' has a capacity of 15 passengers. It has 11 seating and four standing positions.
