185 members elected to MNP's Executive Council

One hundred and eighty members have been elected to Maldives National Party (MNP)'s Executive Council without a vote.

The party said 196 candidates applied for 185 posts in the party's internal elections slated for August 6. Of these, 180 positions were contested by one member each. Therefore, according to the MNP's election rules, the candidates have been elected for the posts by default.

The remaining five vacant positions are: Women's Wing leader, Youth Wing leader, Nolhivaram Constituency (Upper North Region - HDh.) President, Holhudhoo Constituency (North Region - N.) Vice President and Thulhaadhoo Constituency (North Region) President. Vote boxes will be placed in islands where party membership exceeds 50. In this regard, vote boxes will be set up in 54 islands. Voting will be held from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday.

After polling ends at each polling station, the votes will be counted in the presence of the officials and observers in charge of the polling station. Provisional results for each box will be announced at the polling station, and interim results for all constituencies will be announced within 24 hours from the time voting ends. The final results will be announced within seven days.
