Shan's appointment as non-resident ambassador to six countries approved

The Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee has approved to appoint the Maldivian Ambassador to Germany, Aishath Shan Shakir as a non-resident ambassador to six countries.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sought Parliament approval to appoint Shan on August 18. The matter was referred to the relevant committee for consideration, and the committee approved to appoint Shan as the non-resident Ambassador to Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Ukraine.

Non-resident ambassadors are usually appointed to countries that do not have Maldivian embassies. As a non-resident ambassador, Shan will work in Germany.

Parliament approved Shan's appointment as ambassador to Germany on May 24 this year. Shan was presented with her credentials on July 20.
