A suspect has been arrested for smuggling drugs into the Maldives through the post.
The Maldives Customs in Service said the drugs were seized while searching parcels imported by post on June 29.
According to Customs, the parcel contained a drug called Mephedrone. The drugs weighed 526 grams and are valued at MVR 1 million.
The drugs and the suspect are now in police custody.
This is the second time that Mephedrone has been seized while being smuggled into the Maldives. On March 1, 585 grams of the drug were seized by customs.
