Party drugs being smuggled into the Maldives via post have been seized.
Maldives Customs said drugs worth MVR 1.4 million were seized on 12 different occasions while they were being smuggled into the country via the postal system. The drugs were seized between June 28 to October 13, and has a combined weight of 503 grams, said the authority.
The drugs were sent to the Maldives from three countries: Netherlands, Ethiopia and Great Britain. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be around MVR 1,476,000. The seized drugs have now been handed over to the police, and an investigation has been launched.
