New powerhouses opened in Kurendhoo, Molhadhoo

New powerhouses have been opened in Lh. Kurendhoo and Ha. Molhadhoo, after shutting down the powerhouses that had been in use until now.

According to FENAKA Corporation, the old power plant in Kurendhoo is 18 years old. The old powerhouse was shut down, and the power was restored from the new powerhouse on September 12.

FENAKA said the old powerhouse in Molhadhoo was also shut down after 13 years on September 12. The new powerhouse on the island started supplying electricity the same day.

The presence of powerhouses in the residential areas causes great inconveniences for the public. Air pollution and sound pollution are among the main complaints from the public. FENAKA is working to address these issues and relocating powerhouses to non-residential areas.
