Pres appoints ambassador to the USA

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed as the Ambassador to the United States of America. The letter of appointment to the new Ambassador was presented at a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Thursday morning.

Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed served in senior positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Ambassador at Large; Foreign Secretary; Permanent Representative of Maldives to the United Nations; Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations Office in Geneva; and other senior positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed attained a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, USA, and completed a Postgraduate Programme in Diplomacy, Practice, Procedures, and Dynamics in the United Kingdom.
