Maldives’ President Ibrahim Mohamed has congratulated Joe Biden, who has been elected as the 46th president of the United States.
Joe Biden secured 270 electoral votes after gaining in on current President Donald Trump in battleground state, Pennsylvania. While US medias have called the election in Biden’s favour, leaders across the world are sending congratulatory messages to the new president-elect.
President Solih took to Twitter to send his informal felicitations to Joe Biden. In his tweet, President Solih congratulated Joe Biden on his election as the 46th President of the United States. The president said he looked forward to working with Biden’s administration on issues of mutual concern including global efforts to recover from COVID-19 and responding to the climate emergency.
