Tourist arrivals to the Maldives thus far this year have reached 1.13 million.
According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, the number of tourists visiting the country has increased by 38 percent so far this year compared to the previous year.
The most number of tourists visited the Maldives from India. While 160,099 tourist arrivals were recorded from India, Russia follows behind as the second largest tourist market with 132,704 tourists. Another 127,300 tourists visited from the UK, the third largest market. A significant number of tourists also visited from Germany, Italy, the United States, and France.
According to the Tourism Ministry, there are currently 164 resorts in the Maldives with 40,053 beds. While 863 tourism facilities are operated as hotels and guesthouses with 15,500 beds, 155 vessels are registered as safaris and liveaboards with 1616 beds.
According to statistics, an average of 4380 tourists visit the Maldives daily. Each tourist spends an average of 8.2 days in the Maldives.
