British Airways will resume flights to the Maldives after a hiatus of two years.
The resumption of flights will see daily flights between the UK's Heathrow Airport and Maldives' main international airport, Velana International Airport (VIA).
British Airways first launched flights to the Maldives in 2015. The airline suspended operation to the Maldives in 2020 amid the global COVID-19 pandemic due to border closure. Although attempts were made to resume operation in late 2020, the arrangements could not be finalized until now.
More than 119,000 tourists have visited the Maldives from the UK so far this year. The resumption of British Airways flights will increase the number of tourists visiting the Maldives, the Ministry of Tourism said.
