Mahir to be appointed as Family Court Chief Judge

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has approved to appoint Ibrahim Mahir, Meadows, R. Alifushi as the Chief Judge of the Family Court.

The JSC decided to appoint Mahir as the Chief Judge of the Family Court on October 5 after interviewing the candidates who applied for the post. The judge will be awarded his letter of appointment next week.

The post of Family Court's Chief Judge became vacant following the appointment of the court's then-Chief Judge, Huzaifa Mohamed, as a High Court judge on June 27. Since then, Judge Mahir has been temporarily serving as the Chief Judge of the Family Court.

Judge Mahir is the longest-serving judge in the Family Court. He has been working in the Family Court for 12 years.

Mahir was first appointed as a Civil Court judge on November 9, 2005. He was appointed to the Family Court on May 23, 2010.
