Azur Air resumes flights to the Maldives

Russia's Azur Air has resumed flights to the Maldives.

Azur Air flies to the Maldives during the European winter season. The airline's flights from Moscow to the Maldives' main airport, Velana International Airport (VIA), commenced last Friday.

Azur Air flights will be operated seven days a week using 336-seat Boeing 767 aircraft.

Russia is one of the most popular source markets for Maldives Tourism. According to the Tourism Ministry, 128,678 tourists visited the Maldives from Russia as of September this year.

Tourist arrivals to the Maldives increase significantly during the last three months of the year. The Tourism Ministry expects the number of tourists from Russia to grow with the daily Azur Airline flights.
